Ephesians 6:11 – 13 says: Put on the whole armour (that is the armour of warfare) of God,
that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12  For we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto
you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and having
done all, to stand. 

It is my belief that to exist as a fulfilled and successful Christian today, it ought to be in our
conscious understanding that the real battles of life are spiritual. In a lot of cases, I have
observed that some Christians in dealing with challenges, they take a posture of
‘sophistication’ with good ‘organization’ but they don’t engage in spiritual warfare.
This should not be, we ought to adopt the practice and culture of being aware of spiritual
warfare raging all around us. It must be part of our experience today, without which
Christianity will be a frustrating experience.

You may be full of insight but will lack power. Most of the churches that experienced
exponential growth in the early and late ’80s in Nigeria grew not because they had more
knowledge, but they demonstrated power in spiritual warfare as they travailed in
intercessory prayers with compassion in their heart. They released an apostolic faith that
could not be denied.

So, God wants you to grow. This is how you give birth to those things that God has prepared
and given you as your inheritance in Him. The secret therefore to wielding Christ’s Authority
on the earth is to engage consistently in intercessory prayers. You pray because you know
you have what you are praying about; you are not going to pray to get it, you are praying
because you have it already. For example, a man goes to work so that he can get money to
buy a house; a man to whom the house has been willed to goes to court, not so that he can
be given the house, but so that he can take possession of what belongs to him. Those are
two different attitudes.

The practice of prayer is not a gathering of spiritual resources to make something yours;
rather prayer is an exercise of authority to take possession. You are in warfare because you
have taken a stand. You have defined territory that belongs to you and you have taken a
stand on that particular territory!
Therefore, I encourage you to live daily in this consciousness in order to experience the
reality God has long designed for you to possess.
