Gen 30:25 “Now it came to pass when Rachel had given birth to Joseph, Jacob said onto Laban send me away that I might go unto my own place and my own country”.
Now Jacob had worked for Laban his uncle, for a long time, who swapped him ten times concerning his wages, promising him to pay him.
Jacob said “Send me away that I might go to my own place, my country. Give me my wives and children for whom I have served thee and let me go for thou knowest my service which I have done thee” and Laban answered, “I pray thee, if I have found favour in thy eyes, tarry for I have learnt by experience or through divine enquiry or by spiritual means that the Lord has blessed me for thy sake”. In other words, you are the one who brought the blessing into this place.
Then Laban said “Appoint me thy wages and I will give it”.
Jacob said “Thou knowest how I have served thee and how thy cattle was with me, for your cattle was little before I came but it has now increased unto a multitude. So the Lord has blessed you since my coming but when shall I provide for my own house also? And Laban said ‘What shall I give thee?’ And Jacob replied- thou will not give me anything if thou will just do this for me, I will again keep thy sheep and thy flock. I will pass through all the flock today, removing from them all the speckled, spotted and all the brown cattle among the sheep as well as the spotted and speckled among the goats and such shall be my hire”.
He (Jacob) removed the speckled and spotted from the cattle, the brown from the sheep, the spotted and speckled from the goat and any spotted and said, “speckled of the cattle that comes after this belongs to me. Any brown cattle that comes from the sheep belongs to me, any spotted or speckled among the goat shall be my hire”.
Then he also said ‘So shall my righteousness answer for me’.
Now this is a very powerful principle. Righteousness here means integrity and honesty. A man has to be honest in his dealings when working in a place if he is going to have the divine intervention in his affairs.
God said to Abimeleck (after he ignorantly took Abraham’s wife to be with him), “…because of your righteousness and your integrity, I have kept you from doing evil.”
Jacob also said “My integrity shall answer for me in time to come when it shall come for my hire before thy face, every cattle that is speckled”,
It was this same principle Paul was talking about when he said in 2 Cor. 4:2, “seeing that we have this ministry as we have received mercy, we faint not but have renounced hidden things of dishonesty, working in craftiness and handling the word of God deceitfully, but by the manifestation of truth, we commend ourselves in every man’s conscience in the sight of God’”
Hebrews Chapter 11 tells us that through Faith, Sarah herself received strength to conceive Seed and was delivered of a child when she was past the age of Bearing because she judged Him faithful that promised. Therefore sprang even of one of him even as good as dead so many as the stars of the sky and the sand in multitude which was by the seashore.
Now, what had happened here was that Abraham produced after that, but before it happened to Abraham God has called Abraham out, and said ‘look up to the heavens can you count the stars?’ and as he began to look to the heavens and God give him that picture, he said, ‘so shall thy seed be!’
So we see here that it was what God showed him that Abraham actually produced not according to His natural being, but according to the vision that God had unto given him.
So we are talking about the law of success and how it’s produced, looking at the role of one’s vision – which is what one is actually looking at.
For you to be in a situation and say that it appears that God is not there, is to diminish God in whom He really is in His ability and capability. God is always present.
So when men say ‘we are forsaken’ it is because their eyes are either on the environment and what is going on around them, not on the provision that God has made.
